CH PINGLEHOL RUBY TO KILBOURNE
Ruby's story is interesting and varied so worth telling we think . Just bear in mind when you read this I (Glenis) am heavily biased as I have always thought her special amd she is one of the best we have had the pleasure to own. The name Ruby came from my original favorite hound Ch Kilbourne Ruby who launched our kennel into another level. So here goes..............
We were in the middle of whelping two bitches here when they slipped a week both ways and whelped within 2 days of each other. Gail was not the fattest of hounds so with 11 puppies to rear it made sense to ask my good friend Jill Hawkins to rear 4 dogs on her bitch. Jills bitch had only had 3 bitches Large Middle and Small so when I went to collect my 4 babies at around 5 weeks of age I saw these three girls. Middle girl was for me the real beauty and when I found Jill was keeping big I bought her. I took her back with my 4 boys and Mick nearly had a heart attack. We had 22 babies to choose from and I was buying one in? was I completely mad!!!. Yes, of course I was , I wanted her and when I found out her name was going to Ruby it just clinched it we had to have her.
Well, she ran on with Oh Suzzannah and melted into the youngsters pack but I always favoured and loved her best. She came out as a puppy and did some nice winning the best being the CC at 11 months of age under Zena Thorn Andrews. Now I do think 11 months is a tad young but Zena saw something in her and you don't hand CC's back, do you? So now we had to enter into Limit but she was far too young and could not complete with the big girls, that, and not growing a coat did not help her below is her as a puppy and junior and some images of her in the raw.
When the brisket drops the rear angles come back, that is if were there in the first place, if the angles are there as a 4 month old they will be there as a adult. (see no No 1) - (No 2) is Ruby as a baby 8 month. old (NO 3) is Ruby at the end of her junior wins and she is straightening in her rear and she had to compete in Limit at 2 years, she was very raw and completely lacked any decent coat. All through her time she moved well and extended both ends. (No 5) At last at the end of 2009 as a 4 year old she was starting to look more the hound we knew she would be.

Well we did some nice wins in Limit but she never grew a coat so always looked younger than her years and she struggled against the bigger girls but we never lost faith. Ruby is also the mist laid back sweet tempered idle hound so getting her to look animated was always a challenge.
However she has won some nice Reserve CC's under breed specialists and allrounders and along the way we mated her. Firstly to Wild West, twice the his son Thor, she loved Fire Chief so he did his stuff (again no luck) Dorrator Gethan was used again nil so we have finally tried Cypress for the final time. We decided 2010 was her last serious year, as we believe the dogs do better outside when they are being exhibited we dont bring them into our home until they have finished . Now we have space in our home for her so she will become my house dog when she has finished in the ring only appearing from time to time in champion parade and veteran. Maybe just maybe Cypress will work his magic but we are not hopeful.
